About Meredith

Hi! I’m Meredith Pochily, a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) practicing out of Durham, North Carolina. I have over five years of experience working with clients in medical, community mental health, and private practice settings. As a therapist, I work from a holistic and person-centered perspective, drawing from a variety of treatment modalities to best meet your individual needs. I am LGBTQIA+ affirming and welcome clients of all abilities, socioeconomic backgrounds, and racial, ethnic, gender, sexual, and religious identities.

When I’m not working, I’m probably reading a memoir or investigative journalism, exploring local trails, or supervising my dog, Quito, while he ever-hopefully chases lizards, bees, flies, and anything else that moves.

My Philosophy

Therapy is fundamentally a relationship between two humans.

Studies show that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is the single most important factor contributing to positive outcomes in therapy. Developing that relationship is my first priority, and I seek to create a space of acceptance where you can feel seen, valued, and understood. You are ultimately the expert on you, and I encourage you to be an active participant in the therapeutic process.

Part of what I love about therapy is helping clients recognize their internal strength and the beauty of their individuality, innate qualities, and instinct to persevere. It’s important to me to not only address the active symptoms you may be experiencing, but also to go deeper to better understand their source. I will work with you to enhance self-esteem and self-acceptance throughout the therapeutic process, and encourage you to engage in nonjudgmental curiosity when doing self-reflective work. My hope is that through therapy, you will enhance self-awareness and trust in yourself and feel empowered to relate to your thoughts, feelings, and circumstances in a way that aligns with what is important to you.
